A large part of the present activity and plans for the future at the Port of Málaga fall into three
major categories: the rapidly growing cruise industry (with its dynamic
effect on the economies of the city, region and the country as a whole),
an ambitious Special Plan that contemplates the development of new
infrastructure for freight traffics on land gained from the sea, and
a new approach to Port-City relations implying the creation of extensive
residential and recreational areas on part of the Port’s premises
close to the city’s centre.
