The Port of Algeciras Bay ranks first in Spain in traffic volume and in many of the major shipping
categories. It is also one of the largest container ports in the Mediterranean
and among the top 25 worldwide in that speciality.
An extension of its Terminal 2000 was recently inaugurated by H. M.
King Juan Carlos I and the quay containing that terminal was renamed
in his honour. The Algeciras Bay Port Authority has other ambitious
infrastructure and service extension plans underway. The resulting
increased capacity will make it possible for new operators to use
its facilities.
